Glitter Queens Blog Hop – Shaker Cards

It’s the beginning of a brand new month which means it’s time for the Glitter Queens Blog Hop! This month it’s all about Shaker Cards!

Tea Together Shaker Card

I started with a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock. I like to use this thick paper any time my base is white because it’s sturdier and with the extra weight of a shaker card, it’s a good choice. The next layer is a piece of Calypso Coral that was placed inside the Mosaic 3D embossing folder and run through a die-cutting machine.

To create the window, I used the Layering Squares Dies, one inside the other as indicated in the image below.  You’ll need a clear Window Sheet to keep all the sequins inside so I used a piece that measured 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. To attach the Window Sheet, I added Multipurpose Liquid Glue all around the edges of the rectangle.  Then I added our Foam Adhesive Strips on each side of the rectangle.

Layering Squares Dies

Once I figured out where I wanted my Iridescent Sequins to go, I shook them out onto the card base – I wish I had added a little more than I did. Next, I peeled off the backing on the rectangle and attached the window to the card.

The sentiment was stamped in Calypso Coral ink using the stamp set Parcels & Petals and cut out with the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The flowers were stamped in Memento Ink onto Whisper White cardstock using the stamp set, Tea Together. They were colored in using Stampin’ Blends:  Calypso Coral Dark and Light, Granny Apple Green Dark and Light and Pineapple Punch Light. The flowers were cut out using the Tea Time Dies.  I got these dies when they were a Sale-a-bration free gift.  I’m so glad they can now be purchased in the Annual Catalog!

The smaller flower was attached to the frame of the window using Snail and the larger one has Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back. A shaker card may look like it’s really hard to make but it isn’t! I hope you’ll give it a try!

See you on Monday! Have a great weekend!

Well Said Thanks

I love a stamp set that has many different sentiments to choose from and on today’s card I used the Well Said stamp set which includes 51 stamps! This set is jam packed with just about any sentiment you might need.  It also coordinates with the Well Written Dies. For a clearer picture of the stamps, click here to go to my online store.  Once there, click the “+” and you’ll see the stamps enlarged.

Well Written Dies

It’s a bit hard to see what the dies look like in the photo above (since they are backwards) but here a few examples that show the dies and stamp set used together.

Back to today’s card! I used the 6″ x 6″ Brights Designer Series Paper in Bermuda Bay and cut the squares using the Layering Squares Dies. The other squares were cut out of Bermuda Bay cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Dies. I used the same Brights DSP for the banner and used the Banner Triple punch. Glitter Enamel Dots were added as a finishing touch.

This card will be my FREE Tuesday Tutorial so be sure to come back on Tuesday to grab it!

Wishing You Well

Wishing You Well

The sentiment on yesterday’s card used the stamp set Wishing You Well from the Holiday Catalog and today I’m using not only the sentiment but two more stamps in the set.  This is one of our Distinktive stamp sets. Distinktive stamps create different opacities in a single stamped image for realistic depth and intensity.  You can’t help but be impressed once you’ve used one of these stamps!! (more…)
