Does your Designer Series Paper sit in the cupboard unused? Pull it out and make a flower using the Dahlia Fold! I have a video showing how easy it is to make the beautiful flower on my card! When making this type of flower, both sides of the paper show so I’m always on the look out for paper where both sides coordinate and this sheet from Frosted Floral Designer Series Paper is perfect!
The flowers were made using a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch and each piece was glued onto circle made using a 2″ Circle Punch.
My embossed Whisper White layer was achieved using the Striped Scallops Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. The sentiment is from the stamp set Thankful Thoughts and it was stamped using Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White cardstock. I cut it out using the Layering Ovals Framelits and also cut a scalloped oval using Blackberry Bliss.

Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for breaking it down into easy steps. You removed the intimidation factor!
Thank you, Liane! I’m very glad I removed the intimidation factor! These flowers are really fun to make!
I tried this and it turned out well very pleased with the result
I’m so happy to hear that, Doreen! It’s a little tricky at first folding such small pieces but once you get the hang of it, it’s fun! Glad to hear of your success!
I love all your cards
Thank you so much, Carol! You’ve put a smile on my face!
I’m making some dahlias right now! A little trick I tried for the first “edge” folds (at about 2:45 in your video)- After I make the 2 folds that divide the circle into quarters, I label the folds as A, B, C, and D at the outer edge of the circle, with A at the top. Then I use a ruler and bone folder to score a fold line from B to C and from C to D. Give a precise fold every time!
Great tip, Diane! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Tracy, Do you have a suggestion for other DSP patterns that could be used which show up well with the folded Dahlia?
Thanks!
Hi Nell, let me get back to you. I haven’t made any of these flowers using paper from the new 2020-2021 Catalog. I’ll have to take a look and see which ones might work.
Thanks Tracy! Actually it could be any DSP patterns . . . doesn’t have to be in the current 2020 catalog. Just looking for some other options.
This the best tutorial I have viewed, clear, informative.
Reallyyyyy enjoyed your video
