Carried Away Card Set and Tin

Brandi, from the Stampin’ Up! home office, is featured in the video below using two Sale-a-Bration gifts – Carried Away Designer Series Paper and the Card Tin.  She also uses the stamp set, Lift Me Up, from the Occasions catalog.

Brandi makes a set of 12 cards using the Carried Away DSP and mentions that you can make 6 sets of these cards with the entire package of paper.  That’s 72 cards! You could easily adapt her idea with any paper that you have and a stamp set in your stash.

The Carried Away Designer Series Paper and Card Tin are two products that can’t be purchased but are free gifts in the Sale-A-Bration catalog!  Here’s how to earn them:

Place a $50 order (before shipping and handling) and choose one gift.

Place a $100 order (before shipping and handling) and choose two gifts.

Stampin’ Up! Stylish Stems Framelits and Sponging

If my card today looks very familiar, it’s because it has many of the same elements of the card I posted yesterday.  While the one yesterday had a watercoloring panel behind the flower, this time I did sponging with Stampin’ Sponges, Whisper White cardstock and  Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight stamp pads.  There’s a definite learning curve, at least for me, with the sponging technique. I love the look but wasn’t happy AT ALL with what I created below.  But you know what?  I think it looks great behind the flower!  Until then, I will keep on trying this technique until I’m great at it!

The ribbon I used is from the 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack.  It’s a Sale-A-Bration freebie.  You get 2 rolls,  silver and gold, and it’s gorgeous in person as it has beautiful gold and silver accents woven in.  Place a $50 order, before shipping and handling, and you can choose this ribbon as your free gift!

The sentiment is from the stamp set Window Shopping in the Occasions catalog and it’s stamped using Memento Ink.   I tried to center it on my card but it seemed off a bit so I thought the rhinestones might distract from that.  Did it work??

All of the supplies I used are listed below.  Please note that I did NOT use the Framelits with the Window Shopping stamp set but it is part of a bundle and a 10% discount.  I’m noting it in the product list in case you are interested in purchasing both of them.

Watercolor Stylish Stems

Last week I mentioned that I had been playing around with watercoloring and over the weekend I took some of my watercolored pieces and turned them into cards.  I just love the look of blue, green and purple in this card!

I bought an inexpensive bread board to use when I watercolor.  I tape the edges of my watercolor paper with blue painters tape so that it won’t curl too much.

Then I wet my paper using an Aqua Painter.  This helps the ink to spread around the paper on its own.  I pick up the ink from my clear block.  Simply turn your ink pad over and tap it onto the block! Use the Aqua Painter to pick up the paint and drop it onto your wet watercolor paper.

I used Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Elegant Eggplant for my masterpiece below.  It’s wet in the picture below and I hated the way it looked at that point but you will get COMPLETELY different results once it dries!

Here it is dry! I love how the colors blend together but, I didn’t like the water mark areas – I know, too much of a perfectionist.  I thought it would be perfect though peeking through my flower!

The base of my card is Thick Whisper White that measures 11″ x 4-1/4″  and it’s scored at 5-1/2″.  A  4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Bermuda Bay is attached to the base using Fast Fuse.

The front piece is Whisper White cardstock and it measures 3-3/4″ x 5″.  I cut out the flower with the Stylish Stems Framelits and stamped my sentiment with the stamp set, Brushwork Alphabet using Memento Ink .  The stamps are individual letters that allow you to make any word you want!

I didn’t want the extra added bulk of my watercolor paper so I trimmed it just enough to slip behind the flower. I adhered it to the back of the front piece.   I then atttached a piece of Fun Foam (you can find it in big box stores or on Amazon) to the back of this piece.  It helps to keep it from sagging in areas and gives good coverage.  I used Fast Fuse and attached it to the piece of Bermuda Bay.  I added several Enamel Shapes to finish it off!

Product List – These are the products I used to make my card.  If you’d like to place an order (or more information about any of the products), just click any of the pictures!

Pretty Pocket Card Kit – It’s FREE!!

Quick, cute, easy and FREE are all words that describe the Pretty Pocket Card Kit! This is one of  twelve Sale-a-bration gifts that you can choose from for every $50 you spend (before shipping tax).

This kit has so much in it!  You have enough materials for 8 cards plus the envelopes are included.  To make my cards all I needed was a pair of scissors to cut the Baker’s Twine.

The adhesive is already on the card bases so you fold them up and seal!  Add a flower to the top of the insert, write a message to the recipient and you’re ready to send it off!

Check out the video below and see how easy it is to put these cards together!

Watercolor Wash Thank You

I love to watercolor and find it so relaxing.  For the past several days I’ve been playing around with watercoloring and creating lots of different backgrounds.  This particular card was so darn easy to make and I have to say that I love how it turned out!

I used our new Watercolor Pencils which at the moment are on backorder (they are estimated  to arrive in the warehouse on February 13th).   They come in Stampin’ Up! colors which I love because they match our cardstock!  To create my card, I scribbled Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay onto watercolor paper.  Then, using my Aqua Painter, I blended the colors together.  They spread beautifully and the colors are so pretty!  After it thoroughly dried, I used Versamark to stamp my sentiment using the Sale-a-bration stamp set, So Very Much.  I sprinkled it with white embossing powder and watched the magic happen with my heat tool.

This is a stamp set that can be yours with a $50 order (before shipping and tax)!  In fact, you can earn free gifts for every $50 worth of product you order.  Simply place your order online and you’ll be prompted to enter your free item numbers.  Note that for this particular stamp set, you can get it in either wood or clear mount.   Click on the Sale-a-bration catalog on the right sidebar of my blog to see what else is available!

Product List – Below are all of the products I used to create my card.  Click on any of them to place an order or for more information.

Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog and a Message to You

Hi Friends,

Today is the big day that the Occasions catalog goes live.  At the moment  Stampin’ Up! is having an unfortunate situation, their entire system is down, including online ordering, email, phone lines, etc. Frustrating for them and frustrating for everyone who is excited to place their orders out of the new catalog!!

In the meantime here are some links so that you can look (drool) over the Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs.  Also, if you expected to receive these catalogs in the mail from me and didn’t, please contact me!

On a personal note, my mom was in a car accident early last week.  She broke her elbow and had surgery to repair it.  She was in the hospital for four days but came home on Friday.  We are having some challenges but I am so thankful that she is still here with us.  It could have been so much worse.

I will be popping in and out here as I can but right now all of my energy is focused on my mom.  She needs constant help which is so frustrating for her.  I think (I hope) we are finally heading in the direction where each day is getting a little better but it’s one day at a time.

I do check my email so if you have any questions about the sale or ordering (anything), don’t hesitate to reach out.
