I used the Snow is Glistening stamp set and silver embossing to create today’s card to share with you. My goal was a clean and simple card. When I showed it to my husband, he said, hmmm, maybe add some color to it? I had originally made an Early Espresso tree trunk but then thought, what the heck, I’m embossing it all. I also had a silver embossed sentiment on Real Red cardstock but again, kept coming back to all white and silver. It’s hard to see the beauty of the embossing but hopefully the picture below captures it.
I know people who think heat embossing is way too complicated but really, it isn’t!! Here’s how to do it!
- Prep your paper by rubbing an embossing buddy over the surface (this helps to keep stray pieces of embossing powder away).
- Stamp your image with Versamark (it stamps clear but it’s very sticky).
- Sprinkle embossing powder over the image.
- Shake off the excess powder.
- Warm up your Heat Tool for about 10 seconds (this prevents your paper from warping) and then heat up your embossing powder. Watch the magic happen as the heat tool melts the embossing powder.
Embossing never, ever fails to make me smile. Seriously! It is so much fun!
The base of my card is a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Real Red cardstock. The next layer is a piece of 5-1/4″ x 4″ Silver Foil. The third layer is a piece of 5″ x 3-3/4″ Whisper White that I ran through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling embossing folder. After embossing both the trunk and tree, I cut them out with my Paper Snips. I then added Stampin Dimensionals to the back of the tree and attached it to the front of the card. I addd a glue dot to the trunk and tucked it under the tree.
I also embossed the sentiment and cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Adding the sentiment to the card took a little bit of trial and error. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to just one side of the sentiment, the side that wouldn’t be touching the tree but it wasn’t laying right so I added one Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to the side that was actually on the tree (the minis aren’t as high as the regular ones). Still wasn’t working so I added one more dimensional to the top of each larger one and it worked perfectly!
Both the sentiment and tree are from the stamp set Snow is Glistening which will be available starting tomorrow! This is a limited time only product that will be available while supplies last or November 30th. All of the supplies I used are listed below.
