Before sharing my cards for today, I want to let you know that today’s the last day my Expressions in Ink Card Sampler will be available.
Place a minimum $50 order (before shipping/tax) at my Stampin’ Up! online store using the host code GCSDBFQZ and as a thank you, you’ll receive my Expressions in Ink Card Sampler which includes 6 card kits (2 each of three different designs) with envelopes and a PDF Tutorial with instructions, pictures and a supply list. You’ll receive all the paper and embellishments needed to make the cards and all the paper will be cut, scored and die cut for you (you’ll need to supply your own adhesive, ink and stamp set). If your order is $150 or more, please do not use the host code so you can earn Stampin’ Rewards (free product) directly from Stampin’ Up! After placing your order, please contact me to let me know you’d like the Expressions in Ink Card Sampler (you only need to contact me if your order is $150 or more). If I don’t hear from you, I’ll assume you’d like my regular card kits. The last day this offer will be available is TODAY, Monday, July 19, 2021. For all the details, please click here.
When I made today’s card, I actually made two different versions of it. It was one of those cards where I just kept playing around with different elements. It features our Stitched Greenery Die (this fun die embosses your cardstock) and Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper (this paper is expected to be back in stock the week of August 2nd).
I started with a base of Thick Basic White cardstock and then added a layer of Shaded Spruce and Basic White cardstock. The Basic White cardstock was embossed using the Stitched Greenery Die. Then I added a strip of Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper (you can find the measurements I used below the Supply List).
Using Basic White cardstock and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, I cut the shape for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink and the stamp set Biggest Wish and then embossed it with gold embossing powder (see the directions below for embossing). Stampin’ Up! used to sell our embossing powders individually but now you can purchase them in groups of three: Metallics (copper, gold, silver) or Basics (black, clear, white). I used the Metallics. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and adhered it to the Designer Series Paper. To complete the card, I added Holiday Rhinestones.
For this next card, I reversed the colors and added a vellum piece underneath the sentiment using the Painted Labels Dies. I didn’t add Dimensionals to the sentiment as I did for the other card but instead added them to the vellum piece.
How to Heat Emboss
Prepare your cardstock by rubbing an anti-static pouch (Stampin’ Up! no longer carries this product but it’s a must when embossing) over the surface as it helps keep away stray particles of embossing powder. Stamp your sentiment or image using a Versamark pad. This is very sticky ink and your embossing powder will stick right to it. Sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped image. Shake off any excess. Before applying heat to your paper, heat the Heat Tool first so the paper won’t warp (about 10 seconds). Direct the heat over your image and watch as your sentiment is transformed!
