As some of my blog readers know, three years ago I retired from teaching. After receiving my teaching credential in 1980, my new husband and I (today is actually our 35th wedding anniversary) moved to Florida from California. He had been living in Pensacola (he was in the Navy) for seven months while I finished the teaching credential program in California. Together we lived in Pensacola for a year while he went through flight school (then we spent the next 6 years in Jacksonville, Florida). Within two months of our wedding, I became pregnant and we made the decision that I would be a stay at home mom. Ten years later, when both of our girls were in school, I began my teaching career and taught for 22 years.
School started back up again this past Tuesday, without me. I do miss the excitement of a new school year starting – new folders, new pencils and the cute faces of new students! When I retired, I taught second grade, so those same students just started 6th grade. I’ve seen many of their pictures on Facebook this week and they look so grown up!!
We didn’t plan it this way, but on the day school started, I was on a plane to Las Vegas. For some time now, my daughter Jenny has been suggesting that we go together. Las Vegas has no appeal to my husband so Jenny and I planned our trip. We were only there for a few days but had a great time! We stayed at The Wynn – what a beautiful hotel! We definitely did a LOT of walking! According to my Fitbit, I walked 20,626 steps on our one full day there, which is equivalent to 9 miles! That was a record for me! Although I must admit that some of those steps were spent looking for my favorite slot machine. 🙂
I don’t drink coffee but I did on our first morning so Jenny thought it appropriate to capture of picture of it, although the picture is BEFORE I added a ton of milk and three packs of sugar!
The Mai Tais were delicious, especially when sitting by the pool!
I’ll end this post with a picture of my hubby and I on our wedding day! Enjoy the rest of your day!
Happy Anniversary! Wishing you and your hubby many more.
Beautiful bride! Happy anniversary!!!
