I’m feeling nostalgic because today is the first day of school! For 22 years I was an elementary school teacher. I retired seven years ago and in some ways it feels like a lifetime ago that I had a classroom full of children and at other times, it feels like just yesterday. My life has completely changed since the day I left my classroom for the last time. Months after retiring, our first grandchild was born and now we have three! We moved 400 miles away from a home we lived in for 28 years so that we could see our grandkids regularly and so that they’d know who we are. Several years before retiring, I became a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. I remember very clearly, drooling over the catalog and wishing I could craft all day long and be a full time demonstrator. My wish came true and I love it! I can craft whenever I want (in between babysitting those precious grandchildren of mine). Life is good!
So as today begins, I’m thinking of my school teacher friends and all the kids with their new lunchboxes and new school supplies as they get ready to start the school year. To anyone starting school today or in the next few weeks, have a wonderful first day and a school year full of fun and new memories!
Onto Stampin’ Up! news!
There are only days left until Bonus Days are over. This promotion only happens once a year and it will end on Wednesday.
What are Bonus Days? For every $50 you spend this month, you will receive a $5 Bonus Days coupon and there’s no limit to how many you can earn! Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
Today I have a little box that is just the perfect size for a gift card AND I have a video!
If making boxes seems intimidating, trust me, they are easy. Most boxes follow the same type of instructions and once you’ve made a few, you can whip right through them. The hardest part is figuring out the dimensions and I’ve done that for you!
It’s also quite easy to make your own shredded paper for the inside. Simply cut your cardstock very thin, scrunch it up and you have your own homemade filler for the box. How easy is that?
All of the supplies I used for both boxes can be found in the supply list below and can easily be ordered over at my online store. Don’t forget that Bonus Days are here until the end of July which means for every $50 purchase, you’ll receive a $5.00 Bonus Days coupon to spend in August.
Top of the box: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ score at 1″ on all four sides
Bottom of the box: 4-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ score at 1″ on all four sides (don’t forget to cut a smidge off of two connecting sides)
Designer Series Paper: 3-1/4″ x 2″

To create today’s card, I used the Hand-Lettered Prose dies along with the stamp set, Well Said. These dies make it so easy to create a fancy looking card! I decided it was time to do some heat embossing so I pulled out my heat tool, Versamark & white embossing powder and embossed the word friend. Embossing never, ever fails to make me ooh and ahh – I love embossing!
Using my die-cutting machine, I cut each of the five letters, four times in Purple Posy cardstock. Then I used Multipurpose Glue to stack them up, layer by layer. I used the Multipurpose Glue again to adhere each letter to the front of the card. After embossing the sentiment, I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back. Our Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins completed the card.
Measurements
Thick Whisper White: 11″ x 4-1/4″
Highland Heather: 5-1/4″ x 4″ scrap for sentiment
Whisper White: 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″

Each Tuesday I share a tutorial for a card I’ve recently shared on my blog. Today’s tutorial is for the card I shared last Friday. If you missed the post, you can see it here.
No Contact
Recently I’ve received several orders that are No Contact. This means that the person placing an order would prefer that their name and information not be shared with me by Stampin’ Up!. I’ve had several customers notify me that they’ve placed an order but when I’ve received notification of their order, it has been a No Contact. But the funny thing is, they had no idea they had checked the box for no contact. If you place an order from me, you WILL hear from me. I will send you a thank you email AND I’ll send you at least one card kit and a thank you card. If you don’t hear from me, that means you were probably a no contact customer. I love saying thank you and letting you know that I appreciate your order so if you don’t hear from me, please reach out to me!!
Every $50 purchase this month earns a $5.00 Bonus Coupon to spend in August!! You also start earning Bradley Points that can be redeemed for free product!! Click hereto place an order!!
