I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far! Several weeks ago my husband and I received an anniversary card (see below) and I immediately knew that I wanted to try and make a similar looking card.
It was really easy to make and each time you do it, you get a completely different look! I used one of my acrylic blocks, several Stampin’ Write markers and a spritzer. I colored directly onto my block with the markers. There’s no right way to do this. Then I spritzed it with water and stamped it onto my paper. I did try doing this directly onto the base of my card but I was never happy with it – it always seemed crooked to me. So, I ended up cutting it and mounting it onto Bermuda Bay cardstock. As I said, this is really easy and it will look very different each time you do it. You can lightly stamp it or press down harder for a different look. I used Whisper White cardstock which is fine as long as you don’t get the paper too terribly wet but you can use watercolor paper too. The markers I used were: Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo. The first three can only be purchased as a set in the Brights collection but the Island Indigo can be purchased separately. See the product list below.
I finished the card by embossing my sentiment (from the set Build a Birthday) with silver embossing powder. Give this technique a try! I’d love to see what you create!

Today’s card is all about Washi Tape – Cherry on Top Washi Tape – and it was very quick and easy to make! I love the vibrant cheerful colors and how they look together. I laid the tape down and then wrapped the excess around the back – except for the pieces that went around a corner. I used the Greetings Thinlits again (see my post on Monday). I hadn’t planned to put anything in the lower right corner but it seemed a bit stark so I added some candy dots in Bermuda Bay and I think it was just the right touch. I popped this layer up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I’ll definitely be making more cards with this fun tape!

Today’s card is quick and easy! I used the stamp set Garden in Bloom which comes with flowers, leaves, butterflies, sentiments and a bee! It is a 2 step stamping set – you use two stamps to create one image. In this case, I stamped the outline of my flower in Rose Red. Then I used a different stamp for the center. I inked the stamp up, stamped it on scratch paper and then stamped it inside my flower. The leaves were stamped in this same way. I stamped the body of the bee with Memento ink and then inked up the small oval (right next to the bee in the picture below) in Daffodil Delight and stamped right on top of the bee. Easy!!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to post today as it has been a busy week traveling and visiting family. Before we left, I started today’s card and was able to finish it up today.
The flowers are from the new stamp set Birthday Blossoms. As soon as I saw it in the catalog I knew I wanted it because I felt they would be just perfect for coloring! I stamped the flowers and leaves with Memento Ink and colored them with my Copics. I could have used the Pansy Punch to cut out my flowers but I chose to cut them with my paper snips. We don’t have a punch for the leaves so they were cut out too.
I had a vision for the finished card but when I started to put it together, I wasn’t happy with it. I had a different type of fold so that my flowers would hang off of the paper. When you use alcohol ink markers, it tends to bleed through to the back of the paper. Perfectly normal but I didn’t want to see the backs when the card was opened. So, I carefully peeled the flowers off of my cardstock (I used Tombow) but they were still attached as a group. I ended up placing a few Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and placed it on my card. I felt a little sick when I started peeling them off the paper and was so relieved when nothing ripped. Whew!!
I finished it off with a sentiment from Six Sided Sampler stamped with Rich Razzzleberry.
