It’s the first of the month so that means it’s time for the Glitter Queens Blog Hop! This month our theme is March Into Spring!
When I think of spring, I immediately think of flowers (I also think about allergies, but we’ll focus on cardmaking) so I wanted to create a card for the hop this month that centered around a flower. I love creating flowers using the Dahlia Fold Technique. When Stampin’ Up! releases new paper, I always check to see which ones will work well with this technique.
To keep with the theme of flowers, I used the Country Floral Embossing Folder (FREE with a $50 order during Sale-a-bration) on both of my cards. For this first card, I made the “petals” of each flower using Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper. The Dahlia Fold technique is not difficult to do although I have a feeling you might be thinking, I can’t make that, it’s too complicated. It’s not! I have a video at the end of the post that will walk you through how to make it. The video was posted five months ago and does use retired paper, but you’ll see that the Dahlia Fold is not difficult. You might have to practice the folding several times but you’ll get the hang of it quickly.
Here’s another version using Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper, which is part of the Painted Seasons Bundle, another free gift during Sale-a-bration with a $100 order.
I stamped the sentiment for both cards using the stamp set All Things Thanks, Whisper White Cardstock and Calypso Coral ink. I cut both the sentiment and the oval it sits on, using the Layering Ovals Framelits. All the supplies I used for both cards can be found in the Supply List at the end of this post.
