Today we’re going to talk about embossing folders!
If you haven’t used an embossing folder before, it transforms your paper and adds beautiful texture and dimension. Simply add paper to the inside of the folder, run it through the Big Shot and be amazed!
Stampin’ Up! currently has 28 embossing folders to choose from and there are two different types: standard and dynamic. The standard embossing folders have been around for a long time and the folders are thin. The 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions folders are relatively new and are much thicker which helps to create a deeper impression in the paper.
The video below showcases a brand new folder in the Holiday 2018 Catalog, the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder. If you aren’t familiar with our embossing folders, watch the video below to see what they can do to a plain piece of paper. Then come back and I’ll share the “sandwich” you’ll use for the different folders.
The layers you’ll use when feeding your embossing folder into the Big Shot are called sandwiches. If you have an Annual Catalog, turn to page 222 for a visual of the two different sandwiches. The main difference is that if you are using one of the 3D folders, you’ll only use one Cutting Pad. Because they’re so thick, you’ll break your Big Shot if you use both pads.
