Do you save all your scraps of Designer Series Paper? If you said, yes, I’ve got a card for you!

I started with a piece of Basic Black cardstock that measured 5-1/4″x 4″. Then I cut my scraps of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (on sale and available while supplies last) into 1″ wide strips (the first two pieces were about 8″ long). With the strips hanging off of the cardstock (they’ll be trimmed off later), I began by placing down the first diagonal strip, beginning in the upper left hand corner. The next long strip was placed down beside it, to the right. Once I figured out where I wanted all the pieces to go, I glued them down being careful to evenly space each one. Then I turned the cardstock over and cut all the pieces hanging off the paper. That piece was then glued to a Basic Black cardstock base. The inspiration for my card comes from fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Cathy Autrey, who made such a beautiful card using this technique that I couldn’t wait to give it a try!

The sentiment used on my card comes from the stamp set, Kindness & Compassion. This set is retiring and will be guaranteed available until May 22nd, and after that, only while supplies last. I cut the sentiment using the Stitched Rectangle Dies and a die-cutting machine.

Get those scraps out and give this technique a try!

Before sharing today’s card, I want to let you know about some information I incorrectly stated the other day. In the eleven years I’ve been with Stampin’ Up!, bundles have never returned in a new catalog. I assumed that tradition would continue but I was wrong. Several bundles are making a return in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog (which debuts on June 3, 2020). One of those bundles is the So Sentimental Bundle. It was introduced in the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog and it’s been a hot item ever since and hard to keep on the shelves. I couldn’t be happier that the bundle price will continue but I apologize for stating incorrect information. Never assume, right?
To create today’s card I used the So Sentimental Bundle which includes the stamp set So Sentimental and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

I also used two designs from the beautiful Best Dressed Designer Series Paper pack. In the card above, I used Old Olive ink to stamp the sentiment and used Lovely Lipstick (a retiring In Color) in the card below.

I made ten of these cards last night to send out to customers who have recently made a purchase through my online store. Definitely a quick and easy card to make with this pretty paper!

by Tracy | May 11, 2020 | Designer Series Paper, Die-Cutting, Embossing Folders, Quick & Easy Card
To create today’s card I used Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This beautiful paper debuted in the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog and sadly, it’s retiring. It includes 48 sheets of 2-sided paper. I love the soft floral side of the paper.

I used Lovely Lipstick cardstock for the base of the card and the sentiment was stamped in Lovely Lipstick ink (using the stamp set, Timeless Tropical). This beautiful color is one of five retiring 2018-2020 In Colors. Each year five new colors are introduced and five colors retire. I’m sad to see this beautiful shade of pink retiring as I’ve loved using it. Some products in the retiring colors collections have already sold out and everything in these colors is available while supplies last.
Retiring 2018-2020 In Colors
I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut out the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper and the sentiment. These dies, along with the coordinating stamp set, So Sentimental, will be returning in the new Annual Catalog (yay!!) but the So Sentimental Bundle which includes the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and the stamp set So Sentimental (and saves you 10%) will not be returning. The products are returning but the bundle price is not.
Edited on 5-13-20: I stated incorrect information in the paragraph above. I’ve been with Stampin’ Up! for eleven years and bundles, along with their discounted prices, have NEVER returned in a new catalog. I just found out that several bundles WILL BE carrying over into the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog and the So Sentimental Bundle is one that WILL BE returning. I’m so sorry for any confusion!!

The Purple Posy cardstock was embossed using the Subtle 3D embossing folder and a die-cutting machine.

One of my favorite punches, the Starburst Punch, is retiring and is now on the Low Inventory List which means it will be selling out soon. If you follow me, you know I love my die-cutting machine but I also enjoy using punches and this one will be greatly missed. Below I’m sharing past projects using the Starburst Punch. Please note: some of the samples below contain products that have retired or are now on the retiring list.
Edited to Add: When I wrote this post last week, the Starburst Punch was on the Low Inventory List. Stampin’ Up! must have received an extra shipment because while it is still retiring, it’s no longer on the Low Inventory List. In years past, once an item appeared on that list, it meant it would be gone soon. The good news is that there’s still more time to add it to your collection!

On the first two cards, I paired the Starburst punch with the Stitched Shapes Dies.

In all the projects below, I used the Starburst Punch with the 2″ Circle Punch.
