Eclectic Layers

Over the Labor Day Weekend I pulled out my Eclectic Layers Thinlits dies for the first time and created this card.  It comes with 13 dies but I used only the largest one. I love blues and greens so I make a background with Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point and Garden Green using the Polished Stone Technique.  If you haven’t yet tried this technique, you really should!  It’s so easy and the backgrounds are gorgeous! You can read all about this technique here.

After creating the background and using the die to cut out the front, the rest of the card was easy to put together. I used the brand new Leaf Punch to cut two leaves out of vellum.  My sentiment comes from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and was punched out with the Layering Circles Framelits in Garden Green and the leaves were placed behind it.

I’m babysitting my grandkids today and need to leave soon to take my granddaughter to school!  Have a wonderful day!

Tool Time Tuesday – Ink Refills

It’s Tool Time Tuesday and today we’re going to talk about Stampin’ Up! Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills.

These little gems of ink are used in conjunction with our Classic Stampin’ Pads. When your pads start to dry out, you add the refill and your pad is rejuvenated.  If you have our old pads, just add drops all over the stamp pad.  The newer pads don’t absorb the ink like the old ones so just take a plastic spoon and push the ink into the pad.  It’s very easy to do and you’ll find that you don’t need to do it very often.

Tip:  When you purchase an IN COLOR stamp pad, always buy a refill or two.  When they retire, you’ll never be able to purchase a refill and your pad will eventually dry out.

There are many more uses for these little bottles of ink! Several months ago I shared a card I made using the Polished Stone technique (you can see that post HERE).  Several drops of ink were squirted onto a cotton ball that had first been saturated with rubbing alcohol and then it was pounced all over glossy cardstock.  It makes a beautiful background.

Another way to use the Ink Refills is with the Baby Wipe Technique. Take 4-5 Baby Wipes and fold them in half and then in half again. Place it on a paper plate.  Add drops of the Reinker all over your wipes, using two to three different colors, placing the darkest color on first. Keep adding different colors until you don’t have any white space left.  You now have your own stamp pad.  Ink up your stamp and stamp your image onto Whisper White cardstock.  You’ll have a one of a kind masterpiece.  I’ll share a project later this week using this technique. One more way to use our Refills is with the Stampin’ Spritzer.  Fill 3/4 of the spritzer with rubbing alcohol (the alcohol makes your project dry faster) and then add drops of your favorite color refill.  You’ll have to experiment to see how many drops you like. I used to spritz our now retired Organza Ribbon.  I could have ribbon in any Stampin’ Up! color that I wanted. I haven’t done it yet but I’ve heard that many people are spritzing the new Mini Pizza Boxes.  That’s definitely something I’m going to try!

These are just a few ways to use the Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills.  You can purchase the refills in 49 different Stampin’ Up! colors (a refill is not available for Very Vanilla).

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Painted Autumn Thank You

Before I share the details of my card, did you know that you can now order from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog?? It’s overflowing with fun new products such as the beautiful paper I’ve used on my card today.  To view the catalog online, click the picture of the catalog below.  If you live in the U.S. and don’t have a demonstrator, contact me and I’d be happy to send a catalog to you!

I love using patterned paper on a card and Stampin’ Up! has hit it out of the park with all of the beautiful papers they’re offering in the Holiday and Annual Catalogs.  I love Painted Autumn which was just released yesterday.

Here are all the details of today’s card:

  1. The card base is Lemon Lime Twist cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″.
  2. The DSP measures 3″ x 4″ and was glued using Snail to a piece of Early Espresso which measures 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″.
  3. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Early Espresso and adhered it to the card front.
  4. Before stamping the sentiment onto a 1′ x 3″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock, I punched one end using the Banner Triple Punch.
  5. The sentiment is from the stamp set Bunch of Blossoms and was stamped in Early Espresso.  Stampin’ Dimensionals were added to the back before attaching it to the front.
  6. Glitter Enamel Dots were added to the front for a bit of sparkle

At the bottom of my post, you’ll find a supply list of all the Stampin’ Up! products I used for today’s card!

Before I go, here’s a short video from Stampin’ Up! that showcases some new products! Thanks for stopping by!
