Garden Lane Thanks

Yesterday I shared a card using Garden Lane Designer Series Paper and today I have another card using this paper. If you missed yesterday’s card, you can see it here.

I actually made this card, minus the sentiment, before I created yesterday’s card.  I went back and forth trying to decide how to do the sentiment, couldn’t make up my mind and it eventually sat unfinished on my craft table.  I did finally go back to it and I made several versions that I’m sharing with you today.

The first card at the beginning of today’s post has the sentiment on a Mossy Meadow oval.

This one has the sentiment on a Pool Party oval.

This one doesn’t have a layer for the sentiment to sit on at all.

This final one has a little bling on it  using our new Noble Peacock Rhinestones, which are gorgeous in person!

So what do you think? Which one do you prefer? I’m leaning towards one but I’d love to know which one is your favorite!

All of the supplies I used for all four cards can be found in the supply list below.

Hello Friend

Today’s card was created using Garden Lane Designer Series Paper. It’s part of the Garden Lane Suite which also includes the stamp set Verdant Garden which I also used on my card today.

Garden Lane Designer Series Paper

I don’t normally use more than one stamp set but for this card I did.  The sentiment is from the stamp set, To a Wild Rose, shown below.  Look carefully and you might notice something that will make you shudder.  I cut the stamp, “To Be Your Friend”.  I realized that I would get more out of the stamp set if “friend” was by itself, so I took my Paper Snips and cut it! It IS a little scary but oh so worth it if you’ll use a particular stamp more often.

To a Wild Rose

I used the stamp set Verdant Garden for the pretty little rose.  I thought it would make a nice little touch especially with the pop of color.  I used Watercolor Pencils to color it in and then smoothed it out with the Blender Pen.  Sometimes when you color with pencils, you can see streaks of color and a Blender Pen completely solves that problem! I hand cut the rose which was pretty easy to do.

Directions to Create Today’s Card

  • Cut a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock that measures 11″ x 4-1/4″.  Score at 5-1/2″ and fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of Garden Lane Designer Series Paper that measures 5-1/4″ x 4″,  Adhere to the front of the card.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures 3-3/4″ x 3-1/2″.  Cut a piece of Garden Lane Designer Series Paper that measures 3-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ and then attach it to the piece of Whisper White.  Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and attach to the front of the card.
  • On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the sentiment using Mossy Meadow ink and the stamp set, To a Wild Rose.  Cut it out using the Stitched Shapes Dies and a die-cutting machine.  Cut another larger circle in Pool Party cardstock using the Layering Circles Dies. You’ll need to make one more circle in Mossy Meadow using the Stitched Shapes Dies.  Layer all the pieces together using Snail. Turn it over and add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the right side and down the center. Turn it back over and attach to the card.
  • Stamp the rose from the stamp set, Verdant Garden, in Memento Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color it using Flirty Flamingo and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils.  Use a Blender Pen to blend and smooth out the colors, if desired.  Add Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and attach to the sentiment.

How to Use Our New Dies & Embossing Folders

It’s Tuesday and normally you’d find a free tutorial here but last Friday as I was trying to work ahead and prepare today’s post, I accidentally hit publish instead of save.  You should have seen me talking (yelling) at my computer – nooooooo!  Once you send a post off, no amount of yelling will make it come back!  Ha, ha!!  As I’m writing this, I have a big post-it-note on my computer screen so I won’t accidentally click publish! Never a dull moment!

If you missed the tutorial I posted on Friday, you can access it here! The tutorial is for the card pictured below.

Today I have a great video for you from Stampin’ Up!  As you know, the Big Shot has retired and Stampin’ Up! is now using a new supplier for their dies and embossing folders. Unfortunately some of the embossing folders in the catalog are not yet available because we’re waiting for them to arrive in the Stampin’ Up! warehouse. I’ll post when all of our embossing folders are available for purchase. Thank you for your patience!!!

Our new dies and embossing folders are made differently and need to be used a little differently than we’re used to.  In fact, a brand new product called the 3D Embossing Folder Plate was just released last week to help with using our 3D embossing folders. You can’t find this product in our new catalog but if you click here, you can see it at my Stampin’ Up! online store.

3D Embossing Folder Plate

The video below will explain how our dies are different than our previous dies and how to use the embossing folders.  I highly recommend you watch it so you’ll achieve the best results from your dies and embossing folders! George will also show you how to use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate.

Stampin’ Up! Bird Ballad

Before I share today’s card I just wanted to mention something.  In the past week or so, I’ve received three orders where the customer has chosen No Contact during checkout.  What this means is that the customer would prefer I not be given their name or address.  This is perfectly fine but the last time I received a No Contact order, the customer didn’t realize that No Contact had been chosen.  When No Contact is marked off, I cannot send a thank you card or free card kits because Stampin’ Up! will not release your name to me.  If you’ve recently placed an order and haven’t heard from me and mistakenly checked the No Contact box, please contact me by clicking the email me button on the right side of my blog.  (more…)

Glitter Queens Blog Hop – All About Men

It’s time for the Glitter Queens Blog Hop and this month it’s all about men! I have to admit, it was REALLY hard for me to come up with a card suitable for a man.  Ever since I lost my dad almost ten years ago, I just haven’t been able to make a Father’s Day card. I’ve made cards for my husband but I usually sneak in some feminine touches.  It’s so hard not to add a rhinestone or two!!!

I tend to give my brother in law gift cards so I made my cards today with him in mind! I made a video last year showing how to create this type of gift card holder which you can view here! (Please note:  many of the products in the video have retired).  (more…)
