Stampin’ Up! A Touch of Ink

In just four days,  Sale-a-Bration will be over! It’s that time of year when you can earn free product with every $50 or $100 order!

One of the first stamp sets I earned free when Sale-a-Bration first started was A Touch of Ink but I didn’t play with until yesterday! Why the heck did I wait so long? It has a butterfly, flowers, a hummingbird and great sentiments.  This is a Level 2 Sale-a-Bration gift and it’s only available for four more days with a $100 order.

I don’t remember if I’ve shared this before, but my husband retired at the end of August. He was a pilot for Delta Airlines for 33 years.  He had planned to retire in a few years but Delta offered him a chance to retire early and he took them up on it (you’re probably wondering what in the world this has to do with Sale-a-Bration and the stamp set, Touch of Ink, but I’m getting there).  Since Mark has been retired we now have two bird feeders and three, yes three, hummingbird feeders in our backyard. We have the cutest birds, hummingbirds and butterflies visiting our yard daily and we have so much fun watching them zoom all over our backyard. Believe me, it’s a full time job refilling the bird and hummingbird feeders! So, when I saw this stamp set, I knew I had to have it!

To create my card, I started with a base of Highland Heather cardstock and then added a layer of Basic White cardstock that I embossed with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. I then cut a square out of Basic White cardstock using the Layering Squares Dies and stamped the sentiment in Highland Heather ink.  I used Memento Ink to stamp the flowers and then colored them in with my Highland Heather and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. I layered this piece onto a larger square cut out of Highland Heather cardstock.  Stampin’ Dimensionals were added to the back and it was adhered to the front of the card. I love dimension on my cards and use Stampin’ Dimensional on almost every single card I make.

Ornate Floral Embossing Folder

I stamped the hummingbird onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento Ink and colored it using the Highland Heather and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.  I cut it out using our Paper Snips, which are very sharp scissors (these are currently on backorder but a large shipment is due in next week). Usually I’m not overly fond of fussy cutting but it really didn’t take much time at all. I added several Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and placed it near the flowers.  I added some Wink of Stella to the hummingbird’s head for some extra sparkle!

This really is a fun set to play with and if you place a $100 order, you can choose it as your free gift, but only until this Sunday, February 28, 2021!

Here’s one of the cute hummingbirds in our backyard.  Not exactly the Highland Heather – Bermuda Bay combination of my hummingbird but isn’t he cute?

Stampin’ Up! Art Gallery with Butterfly Brilliance

Today’s card features two new products from the Butterfly Brilliance Collection, both available beginning March 2, 2021: Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper and the Brilliant Wings Dies. I can’t share pictures of the actual products until they are released but you can see them in this flyer!

To make my card, I started with a base of Highland Heather cardstock and then added a layer of Basic White cardstock & Butterfly Bijou 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper.  This paper will be available beginning on March 2nd and will only be available while supplies last.

I used the Layering Squares Dies to cut a square out of Highland Heather cardstock and another, smaller one, out of Basic White cardstock.

Layering Squares Dies

The sentiment was stamped in Highland Heather ink using the stamp set, Art Gallery. The butterfly was cut out using another pattern of Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper and the Brilliant Wings Dies. These dies will be in the 2021 Annual Catalog (released on May 4th) but they will be available for purchase early, beginning on March 2nd.

Art Gallery Stamp set

I used half of a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to secure the butterfly to the Basic White Layering Square. To complete the card, I added two pearls down the center of the butterfly. You can find all the measurements I used below the Supply List.

Sneak Peek of Two New Products

On my card today I have a sneak peek of two new products that will be available on June 3rd when the new Annual Catalog goes live!

Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder

The two new products are:

  • Lovely You stamp set
  • Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

The flowers and sentiment were both stamped with the Lovely You stamp set.  To create the flowers,  I used my Stampin’ Write markers and colored directly onto the stamp.  First, I added color to the petals using a Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write marker and then to the stem using a Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker.  Before stamping onto Whisper White paper, I huffed all over the stamp to reactivate the ink. The other flower was colored with a Daffodil Delight marker. Stampin’ Write Markers can only be purchased in a set by Color Collections.  Melon Mambo & Daffodil Delight are in the Brights Stampin’ Write Markers collection and Garden Green can be found in the Regals Stampin’ Write Markers collection.

Layering Squares Dies

The sentiment was stamped in Melon Mambo ink (a stamp pad) and it’s also from the Lovely You stamp set. Each flower was cut out using the Layering Squares Dies and the Melon Mambo piece underneath was also cut out with these dies. Stampin’ Dimensionals were added to the back of each one and added to a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Both the stamp set and embossing folder will be available next  Wednesday, June 3rd!

Stampin’ Up! Seriously the Best

Seriously the Best

Before sharing my card with you today, I wanted to let you know that the Stitched So Sweetly Dies are on the Low Inventory List again. Once they go into Backorder status, there’s no indication how long the wait will be before they are back in stock.  Click here to see if they’re still in stock.

Today’s card features the stamp set, Seriously the Best.  I love stamps with big bold sentiments and I was hoping this set would carry over into the new catalog but sadly, it isn’t. All retiring stamp sets will have guaranteed availability until May 22, 2020 and after that date, only while supplies last.

Seriously the Best

Doesn’t this paper get you into a tropical frame of mind? My card on Monday was also made using Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper and if you missed it, you can see it here.  This paper debuted in the Mini Catalog and is on the retiring list.  The coordinating colors are:  Mango Melody, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Pretty Peacock, Real Red, Soft Sea Foam, Soft Suede, So Saffron and Whisper White. Stampin’ Up! takes the guesswork out of figuring out which colors to use with their papers!

Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper

After adhering the Tropical Oasis DSP to the Mango Melody cardstock, I wrapped Linen Thread around the paper three times, tied a knot and then made a bow. The sentiment was cut out using the Stitched Shapes Dies (also on the Low Inventory List) and then adhered to a piece of Mango Melody cardstock, cut out with the Layering Squares Dies. Stampin’ Dimensionals were added to the back to give it a nice pop.  To complete the card, I added three Gilded Gems. All the measurements I used can be found below the Supply List.

Stampin’ Up! Stitched Shapes Dies

Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper

Today’s card features Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog.  This paper is part of the Year-End Closeout and is only available while supplies last.  The designs in this pack of paper coordinate with Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Old Olive (three colors I used for today’s card) as well as Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Poppy Parade, and Pretty Peacock.

Night Before Christmas

I used the stamp set, Itty Bitty Christmas, which includes 18 different stamps!  The sentiment was stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink and cut out with the Stitched Shapes Dies. The Cherry Cobbler scalloped oval in Old Olive was cut out with the Layering Ovals Dies.

I also used the Stitched Shapes Dies to cut out the Designer Series Paper.  The Old Olive scalloped square was cut out using the Layering Squares Dies.  The Cherry Cobbler cardstock was embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder (this item is not one of the retiring Holiday Catalog products).

Glitter Queens Blog Hop – Shaker Cards

It’s the beginning of a brand new month which means it’s time for the Glitter Queens Blog Hop! This month it’s all about Shaker Cards!

Tea Together Shaker Card

I started with a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock. I like to use this thick paper any time my base is white because it’s sturdier and with the extra weight of a shaker card, it’s a good choice. The next layer is a piece of Calypso Coral that was placed inside the Mosaic 3D embossing folder and run through a die-cutting machine.

To create the window, I used the Layering Squares Dies, one inside the other as indicated in the image below.  You’ll need a clear Window Sheet to keep all the sequins inside so I used a piece that measured 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. To attach the Window Sheet, I added Multipurpose Liquid Glue all around the edges of the rectangle.  Then I added our Foam Adhesive Strips on each side of the rectangle.

Layering Squares Dies

Once I figured out where I wanted my Iridescent Sequins to go, I shook them out onto the card base – I wish I had added a little more than I did. Next, I peeled off the backing on the rectangle and attached the window to the card.

The sentiment was stamped in Calypso Coral ink using the stamp set Parcels & Petals and cut out with the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  The flowers were stamped in Memento Ink onto Whisper White cardstock using the stamp set, Tea Together. They were colored in using Stampin’ Blends:  Calypso Coral Dark and Light, Granny Apple Green Dark and Light and Pineapple Punch Light. The flowers were cut out using the Tea Time Dies.  I got these dies when they were a Sale-a-bration free gift.  I’m so glad they can now be purchased in the Annual Catalog!

The smaller flower was attached to the frame of the window using Snail and the larger one has Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back. A shaker card may look like it’s really hard to make but it isn’t! I hope you’ll give it a try!
